United India Insurance Company Limited was incorporated as a Company on 18th February 1938. General Insurance Business in India was nationalized in 1972. 12 Indian Insurance Companies, 4 Cooperative Insurance Societies and Indian operations of 5 Foreign Insurers, besides General Insurance operations of southern region of Life Insurance Corporation of India were merged with United India Insurance Company Limited. After Nationalization United India has grown by leaps and bounds and has over 9000 work force spread across 1537 offices providing insurance cover to 1.74 Crore policy holders. The Company has variety of insurance products to provide insurance cover from bullock carts to satellites.

United India has been in the forefront of designing and implementing complex covers to large customers, as in cases of ONGC Ltd , GMR- Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, Mumbai International Airport Ltd Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanam etc. We have been also the pioneer in taking Insurance to rural masses with large level implementation of Universal Health Insurance Programme of Government of India & Vijaya Raji Janani Kalyan Yojana ( covering 45 lakhs women in the state of Madhya Pradesh) , Tsunami Jan Bima Yojana (in 4 states covering 4.59 lakhs of families) , National Livestock Insurance and many such schemes.

We have also made our presence in more than 1000 tier II & III towns and villages through our innovative Micro Offices.

STANDARDS FOR ACCESS TO CITIZENS:

We shall
  • Host on our Website www.uiic.co.in all relevant information relating to working hours, documents required for issuance of policies and claims settlement.
  • Make available literature on products and services at all our offices.
  • Reach out through electronic and print media, intermediaries and other active communication channels available.
  • Enhance the access of citizens through Dedicated Toll Free No.1800 425 33333
  • Earmark the time between 3.00PM to 5.00PM of every Wednesday (next working day, in case Wednesday happens to be holiday) for personal interaction of customers with Designated GRO of Micro Office/Branch Office/Divisional Office/Regional office for resolving of grievances.

STANDARDS FOR SERVICING:

We shall
  • Strive to carry out the timelines as prescribed by the Regulator in respect of Policy holder’s servicing.
  • Be clear and transparent in seeking fulfillment of requirements for settling a claim or any other services to the customer.

  • Invite feedback from customers on services availed to suggest improvements.
  • Review the standards of services offered, annually with a view to improve the benchmarks.

This Charter is a summary of service levels which United India Insurance Company proposes to offer to the citizens. However the charter is not a part of the policy conditions or policy contract of the customers of United India Insurance Company.

Official Language Implementation

REPORT ON OFFICIAL LANGUAGE IMPLEMENTATION

While framing the constitution of our country, Hindi was unanimously accepted as Official Language and Hindi was adopted as the Official  Language of the Union of India on14th September, 1949.

To commemorate this occasion "HINDI DAY" is celebrated on 14th September every year.

Article 343 of the constitution states that "The Official language of the Union shall be Hindi in Devnagari Script. The form of numerals to be used for the Official purpose of the union shall be the international form of Indian numerals".

The company has shown good progress in the implementation of Official Language Policy as per the Annual Programme on O.L. Implementation of Govt. of India.

Some of the noteworthy achievement in Official Language Implementation includes the following:
E. SERVICES TO FACILITATE EMPLOYEES:

One Hindi word a day is taught to all through Intranet. Messages, Reports and Photos of Hindi Day/Week, Conference etc. are uploaded regularly in intranet. Bilingual Standard formats are available in bilingual in intranet.

PROPOGATION OF NON-LIFE INSURANCE THROUGH ELECTRONIC MEDIA:

To popularize non- life insurance products among masses in rural and urban areas, programmes like discussion, speeches etc. are organised through All India Radio. Recently a programme on Health Insurance was organised.

EMAIL IN HINDI:

Mails are sent by various offices in Hindi.

BILINGUAL PUBLICATIONS:
  • CITIZENS CHARTER printed in bilingual and regional language
  • Performance, Planning, Analysis, Review and Discussion and Quality Circle of HRD has been translated and printed in bilingual
  • DO's AND DONT'S vigilance manual had been printed in bilingual.
  • Company's Annual Report published in bilingual
